Dzhumagaliev Temirbek Tolegenovich was born on December 25, 1964, into a large family in the village of Chapayev, Chapayev District, West Kazakhstan Region. In 1980, he graduated from secondary school No. 2 and then studied at the Chapayev District Vocational School. From 1983 to 1985, he served in the military. After returning from the army, in January 1986, he started working at SMU-20 in Almaty. On December 16-18, 1986, he took part in the national movement in Almaty, raising the flag of national pride and protesting against the Soviet totalitarian regime's policies. During the uprising, on December 17, he injured his hand and head. He was imprisoned in an Almaty city prison and later transferred to the trauma department of a hospital. After several days, he was interrogated by prosecutors. Thanks to the efforts of Kazakh citizens, he was able to avoid a sentence. In 2024, he was officially rehabilitated.
